Buy a registered agent and a mailbox on purpose
Bundling is fine. Blurring is not. The agent’s job is to be findable by a process server at an in-state office during business hours. The mailbox’s job is to show you the paper. One company may sell both. They are still two appointments, two compliance failure modes, and usually two addresses.

Vendors that sell both (verify the state)
- VirtualPostMail — “FREE registered agent services included with every virtual mailbox plan.” Only useful if you form (or foreign-qualify) in a state they actually serve as agent, and you appoint them on the SOS filing. Their hubs are CA, DE, FL, NV, TX.
- iPostal1 — registered agent as an add-on, not at every location. States they listed: AK, AL, AZ, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, MA, MN, MO, MS, NC, NM, NV, NY, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, WY. They say locations must be state-registered as agents and keep separate agent mailboxes for audits. Confirm the shop, not just the brand.
- America's Mailbox — Platinum and Titanium Plus pages mention resident agent service. South Dakota context. Ask what “resident agent” means in their contract versus a statutory registered agent.
- Formation companies (Northwest, Harvard Business Services, CT Corp, and others) — often the correct RA purchase; then add any mailbox from this directory for mail scanning. We are not comparing those firms here.
Anytime Mailbox and Traveling Mailbox are mail products. A local UPS Store that is an Anytime location is still, in Wyoming’s words, not a registered office merely because it receives packages.
How to wire the two together without mixing fields
- Sign an RA agreement. Put that office on articles / certificate of formation.
- Open the mailbox. Complete 1583 for the LLC and for people who will receive mail in their own names.
- Tell the agent where to email or forward your copies. Many agents already email scans of served documents. You still want a mailbox for everything that is not service of process.
- On invoices and the website, use the mailbox (with PMB/#). Do not publish the RA suite as your mailroom if they will not accept your Amazon returns.
- Calendar the RA renewal separately from the mailbox renewal. They expire on different days and killing the wrong one hurts more.
Foreign qualification
If the LLC does business in a second state, that state wants its own registered agent. A Miami mailbox used for Florida customers does not foreign-qualify a Wyoming LLC in Florida. Mail is not nexus advice; it is also not a substitute for it.
