The list of street-address mailboxes that says what each one can and cannot be used for
WhichMailbox is a public directory of US virtual mailbox and commercial mail receiving agency (CMRA) street-address services. Use it to pick a provider and an address type for mail, LLC correspondence, privacy, expats, or RV life. It is not a tax advisor, domicile mill, or bank-approval stamp.

LLC mailing address
Mail vs principal office vs registered agent. They are three different fields.
Banks, Stripe, Mercury
CMRA caveats. Policies differ and change. No universal yes.
Expat / nonresident
Form 1583 from abroad, international forwarding, extra KYC friction.

Provider snapshot
Figures below are what the providers published as of this review. Location counts move. Per-location operators set many Anytime Mailbox fees. Check current pricing before you subscribe.
| Provider | Model | Published starting price | Locations (their claim) | Check deposit | Best-fit use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anytime Mailbox | Network of independent mail centers | Cheapest plans $4.99; they say average $9.99; vanity up to $50 | 2,500+ (homepage); US map also lists about 2,090 US locations | Select locations | City choice, budget entry, pickup at a real store |
| iPostal1 | Large digital-mailbox network (USZoom LLC) | Virtual mailing $9.99; business $14.99; virtual office $39.99. Select/Premium/Prestige locations cost more | 4,250+ worldwide; they also say all 50 US states | Most locations, not all | Most cities; optional phone/fax; registered-agent add-on in listed states |
| Traveling Mailbox | Company-run scanning hub (home base Sanford, NC) | Basic $15; Extended $25; Small Business $55. Annual = 2 months free | Multiple US locations; FAQ says most people use Sanford, NC | Yes — $4.95 per check + postage; they mail it to your bank | Predictable scans, travelers who want one operator |
| PostScan Mail | Standardized three-tier plans | Starter as low as $10; Standard $20; Premium $30 per month | 1,000+ worldwide (homepage) | No — official support page says they do not offer it | Simple plan math, mobile app, pickup at many sites |
| VirtualPostMail | Company-owned hubs, not a franchise map | Mailbox tiers are on a JavaScript pricing table. Check their site. Do not treat third-party $20/$35/$60/$90 roundups as verified here. | Five: Covina CA, Claymont DE, Brandon FL, Henderson NV, Keller TX | Listed on location pages | In-house processing; free RA with mailbox plans; they tell you the mailbox is not for banking |
RV-oriented services are a different product: more forwarding, less “virtual office.” See RV and snowbird mail forwarding for Escapees (TX / FL / SD), America's Mailbox (South Dakota), and St. Brendan's Isle (Florida).
Compare the big three How mailbox fees actually work
Four jobs people mix up
| Job | What it is | Typical tool | Will a virtual mailbox do it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Receive and manage mail | Letters, scans, packages, shred, forward | CMRA / virtual mailbox | Yes — this is the product |
| LLC mailing address | Where the state, IRS, vendors, and banks send paper | Street address you control | Often, as mail — not as the registered office. Confirm the state form. |
| Bank / processor KYC | CIP wants a principal place of business or other physical location | Whatever that institution accepts this month | Not guaranteed — CMRA flags are common. Never assume Stripe or Mercury will take it. |
| Domicile / residency | Where you actually live for tax, voting, driver license, vehicles | Facts and presence, not a PMB | A mailbox does not create domicile |

What a CMRA is, in USPS English
A Commercial Mail Receiving Agency is a private business that accepts US Mail on behalf of someone else. Virtual mailbox companies, The UPS Store, and many pack-and-ship shops are CMRAs. USPS delivers the mail to the shop. The shop puts it in a private mailbox (PMB). To open one you complete PS Form 1583 with two current IDs, and you generally need a notary or an in-person/video verification with the CMRA.
USPS requires the address to include PMB or # plus your box number. Mail without that designation can be returned “Undeliverable as Addressed, Missing PMB or # Sign.” After you close the box, the CMRA — not USPS change-of-address — must remail First-Class and similar mail for six months. How we write
- Publicly listed features and prices, with a link out. If a dollar amount is not on the provider’s own page, we say so.
- No invented “X% of banks accept this” statistics and no income claims.
- When a provider’s marketing disagrees with its support page, we prefer the support page (example: PostScan Mail check deposit).
- When a provider warns against using its own mailbox for banking, we quote that (example: VirtualPostMail; Anytime Mailbox FAQ).
