Thirty-six rounds of city addresses: still CMRAs, still not a lease

A Bellingham or Saginaw PMB is a staffed mail center on a map, not a tax election and not a bank-approval charm. Networks list locations around some of these metros — and leave gaps around others. Inventory turns over. Open the provider’s finder and read that row’s monthly price, scan fees, and whether pickup is allowed before you print letterhead.

Wausau is Marathon County’s north-central Wisconsin city — not Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Appleton, or Eau Claire from earlier Wisconsin rounds, and not the suburb of Weston. Bellingham is Whatcom County’s city near the Canadian border — not Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, or Yakima from earlier Washington rounds. Redding is Shasta County’s far-northern California city — not Sacramento, Fresno, or Bakersfield from earlier California rounds, and not Chico or Red Bluff. Hattiesburg is the Pine Belt university city in south Mississippi — not Jackson, Gulfport, or Biloxi from earlier Mississippi mentions.

Who covers these cities

Anytime Mailbox: none of these five had a dedicated /city-st page on 04 Oct 2026; use the city listing paths above or the Michigan, Wisconsin, Washington, California, and Mississippi state listings. US map: lp.anytimemailbox.com/locations/map. iPostal1 still says 4,250+ locations worldwide; that count is theirs, not a street-by-street audit. Read the city and ZIP on the card — all five Anytime “city” paths dumped statewide inventory, only Bellingham showed named city cards on the review date, Wausau’s closest card was in neighboring Weston, and Saginaw / Redding / Hattiesburg had no matching city row. None of these five had a working iPostal dedicated city page on the review date (two returned iPostal1’s own error page, three hit a Cloudflare challenge on the bot fetch).

iPostal1 also publishes a registered-agent add-on in listed states. A Saginaw, Wausau, Bellingham, Redding, or Hattiesburg mailbox is still not automatically an RA appointment. Nearby hubs that are not the city

Company-run scanning hubs get used as if they were downtown. They are not.

• VirtualPostMail hubs overall — Covina CA, Claymont DE, Brandon FL, Henderson NV, Keller TX. No Saginaw, Wausau, Bellingham, Redding, or Hattiesburg hub on that page. Covina is in Southern California, nowhere near Redding. Source: VPM addresses.
• Flint / Fenton / Lansing vs Saginaw — A Flint W Hill Rd, Fenton North Leroy St, or Lansing E Michigan Ave row on the Michigan dump is not a Saginaw city door. Flint, Lansing, and Midland from earlier rounds are not Saginaw. The Saginaw Anytime path had no Saginaw-named city card on 04 Oct 2026.
• Weston vs Wausau — The 2106 Schofield Ave card says Weston, WI 54476. If you only need a pickup door near Wausau, that may be close enough; if you need “Wausau” on the line, it is not. Eau Claire and Appleton from earlier Wisconsin rounds are not Wausau.
• Seattle / Lynnwood vs Bellingham — A Seattle 1st Ave, Lynnwood 196th St SW, Mukilteo Harbour Pointe Blvd, or Lake Stevens WA-9 row on the Washington dump is not Bellingham. The Bellingham Anytime path did show Bellingham-named cards at 424 W Bakerview Rd, 1780 Iowa St, and 4202 Meridian St on 04 Oct 2026 — still confirm that live card before you subscribe.
• Sacramento vs Redding — A Sacramento Arden Way, Marconi Ave, or Folsom Blvd row on the California dump is not a Redding city door. Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield from earlier California rounds are not Redding. The Redding Anytime path had no Redding-named card and no Shasta County card on 04 Oct 2026.
• Biloxi / Long Beach / Jackson vs Hattiesburg — The four Mississippi rows (Biloxi Beauvoir Rd, Long Beach Beatline Rd, Jackson I-55 N, Madison Calhoun Station Pkwy) are not Hattiesburg. Gulfport from an earlier round is not Hattiesburg. The Hattiesburg Anytime path had no Hattiesburg-named card on 04 Oct 2026.
• Traveling Mailbox / Sanford, NC — useful if you want one operator and do not care about a local pickup door. Not a substitute for a Saginaw, Wausau, Bellingham, Redding, or Hattiesburg storefront. See provider comparison.

What “downtown” still is

iPostal1 FAQ on the first city list: about 90% of locations are Standard at the published $9.99 / $14.99 base; Select +$10, Premium +$20, Prestige +$30 per month. Check current pricing. A Bellingham Bakerview Rd / Iowa St / Meridian St card, a Weston Schofield Ave card, or any future Saginaw / Redding / Hattiesburg card lands in whatever bucket that franchisee lists. You still complete Form 1583. You still use PMB or #. Banks still can flag the building as a CMRA. A Bellingham mail center does not convert a CMRA into a lease. A Weston suburb does not make you a Wausau resident. A Sacramento prestige location is still a CMRA — and still Sacramento, not Redding.

Pickup vs scan-only

The reason to pay city rent is often same-day pickup, a local UPS/FedEx stop, or a return drop. Confirm hours and ID required to pick up, whether the virtual-mailbox plan includes pickup or the store charges extra, and whether registered mail still requires a trip to the Post Office (USPS says you must collect Registered Mail at the Post Office, not the CMRA).

If you will never set foot in Bellingham or Wausau, a city PMB is a vanity line plus whatever scan SLA that franchisee meets. A company hub in another state may scan faster because that is their whole business. Pay city rent when you will use the door.

Local business licensing

Using a city PMB on a website does not register you with that city. A mailbox provider’s checkout is not a municipal license.
