Thirty-seven rounds of city addresses: still CMRAs, still not a lease

A Lake Charles or Ocala PMB is a staffed mail center on a map, not a tax election and not a bank-approval charm. Networks list real city rows in some of these metros and leave others empty. Inventory turns over. Open the provider’s finder and read that row’s monthly price, scan fees, and whether pickup is allowed before you print letterhead.

Lake Charles is the Calcasieu Parish city in southwest Louisiana — not Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, or New Orleans from earlier Louisiana rounds, and not Sulphur or Westlake. Tuscaloosa is the west Alabama university city — not Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, or Montgomery from earlier Alabama rounds, and not Northport across the river. Johnson City is the Tri-Cities city in upper east Tennessee — not Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, Memphis, or Murfreesboro from earlier Tennessee rounds, and not Kingsport or Bristol. Greeley is the Weld County city in northern Colorado — not Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder, Pueblo, or Grand Junction from earlier Colorado rounds, and not Evans or Windsor. Ocala is the Marion County city in north-central Florida — not Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, or Tallahassee from earlier Florida rounds, and not The Villages or Belleview.

Who covers these cities

Anytime Mailbox: none of these five had a dedicated /city-st page on 06 Oct 2026; use the city listing paths above or the Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, and Florida state listings. US map: lp.anytimemailbox.com/locations/map. iPostal1 still says 4,250+ locations worldwide; that count is theirs, not a street-by-street audit. Read the city and ZIP on the card — four of these five showed at least one city-named Anytime card on the review date (Johnson City and Ocala showed two each), while Greeley had none. None of the five had a working iPostal1 dedicated city page on the review date; all five returned iPostal1’s own error page.

iPostal1 also publishes a registered-agent add-on in listed states. A Lake Charles, Tuscaloosa, Johnson City, Greeley, or Ocala mailbox is still not automatically an RA appointment. Nearby hubs that are not the city

Company-run scanning hubs and neighboring-city cards get used as if they were downtown. They are not.

• VirtualPostMail hubs overall — Covina CA, Claymont DE, Brandon FL, Henderson NV, Keller TX. No Lake Charles, Tuscaloosa, Johnson City, Greeley, or Ocala hub on that page. Brandon is in the Tampa area, not Marion County. Source: VPM addresses.
• Sulphur vs Lake Charles — The 108 E Napoleon St card says Sulphur, LA 70663. It may suit pickup if you live on the west side of the parish; if you need “Lake Charles” on the line, it is not. Lafayette from an earlier round is not Lake Charles.
• Birmingham vs Tuscaloosa — A Birmingham 19th St, 1st Ave N, Doug Baker Blvd, or Gadsden Hwy card, or the Trussville card, is not a Tuscaloosa door. The Tuscaloosa path did show a Tuscaloosa-named card on McFarland Blvd N on 06 Oct 2026 — still confirm that live card before you subscribe.
• Knoxville vs Johnson City — Knoxville, Farragut, and Oak Ridge cards are a different metro and are not Johnson City. The Market St and Roan St cards were the only Tri-Cities rows we saw on 06 Oct 2026.
• Fort Collins / Longmont vs Greeley — The Fort Collins S Shields St card and Longmont S Hover St cards are not Greeley. Fort Collins and Boulder from earlier rounds are not Greeley. The Greeley path had no Greeley-, Evans-, or Windsor-named card on 06 Oct 2026.
• Gainesville / The Villages / Dunnellon vs Ocala — Those cards are their own cities. Gainesville from an earlier round is not Ocala. A Villages address can look local to retirees in the area, but it is still The Villages, FL 32162, not Ocala.
• Traveling Mailbox / Sanford, NC — useful if you want one operator and do not care about a local pickup door. Not a substitute for a Lake Charles, Tuscaloosa, Johnson City, Greeley, or Ocala storefront. See provider comparison.

VPM still warns that its mailbox SKU is not for banking. We do not claim otherwise. See banks, Stripe, Mercury.

What “downtown” still is

iPostal1 FAQ on the first city list: about 90% of locations are Standard at the published $9.99 / $14.99 base; Select +$10, Premium +$20, Prestige +$30 per month. Check current pricing. On the Anytime side, the “starting from” numbers above are the lowest plan each card listed on 06 Oct 2026; scan bundles, overage pages, and forwarding are priced separately by each operator. Believe the live card, not the homepage average or this page.

You still complete Form 1583. You still use PMB or #. Banks still can flag the building as a CMRA. A Nelson Rd mail center does not convert a CMRA into a lease. A Villages card does not make you an Ocala resident. A Fort Collins card is still Fort Collins, not Greeley.

Pickup vs scan-only

The reason to pay city rent is often same-day pickup, a local UPS/FedEx stop, or a return drop. Confirm hours and ID required to pick up, whether the virtual-mailbox plan includes pickup or the store charges extra, and whether registered mail still requires a trip to the Post Office (USPS says you must collect Registered Mail at the Post Office, not the CMRA).

If you are a seasonal resident or RV traveler, a city PMB only helps when you are actually in town to use the door; otherwise read RV and snowbird mail forwarding first. A company hub in another state may scan faster because that is their whole business. Pay city rent when you will use the door.

Local business licensing

Using a city PMB on a website does not register you with that city. A mailbox provider’s checkout is not a municipal license.

• Lake Charles — Start at the city’s site for current occupational license / permits guidance; Louisiana business filings with the Secretary of State are separate. A Sulphur card is a Sulphur address, not a Lake Charles license. Source: cityoflakecharles.com · sos.la.gov.
