The list of street-address mailboxes that says what each one can and cannot be used for

WhichMailbox is a public directory of US virtual mailbox and commercial mail receiving agency (CMRA) street-address services. Use it to pick a provider and an address type for mail, LLC correspondence, privacy, expats, or RV life. It is not a tax advisor, domicile mill, or bank-approval stamp.

Read this first. A real street address is not the same thing as a registered office, a bank-accepted business location, or a legal domicile. Many CMRA addresses work well for receiving mail. Some states, banks, and payment processors reject the same address for filings or KYC. We never claim an address is accepted by all banks, by Stripe, by Mercury, or by every secretary of state.

What a CMRA is, in USPS English

A Commercial Mail Receiving Agency is a private business that accepts US Mail on behalf of someone else. Virtual mailbox companies, The UPS Store, and many pack-and-ship shops are CMRAs. USPS delivers the mail to the shop. The shop puts it in a private mailbox (PMB). To open one you complete PS Form 1583 with two current IDs, and you generally need a notary or an in-person/video verification with the CMRA.

USPS requires the address to include PMB or # plus your box number. Mail without that designation can be returned “Undeliverable as Addressed, Missing PMB or # Sign.” After you close the box, the CMRA — not USPS change-of-address — must remail First-Class and similar mail for six months.
